The stroke color varies more subtly than in the Crayon presets, which makes these a good choice for shots of people. Pastel emulates strokes of colorful powder-based pigments. Small brush size with high levels of photorealism will bring out the details in the image. Use a combination of the Photorealism slider along with the Overall Brush size to control the look. This technique plays up the energy in a shot. Watercolor effects emulate overlaying semi transparent strokes of water-based paint. The Paint Thickness slider controls this behavior. The amount of highlights and shadows can lend the painting a sculptural quality, which can give expressiveness to the piece. ![]() Impasto imitates the signature thick buildup of multiple layers of paint. If you prefer a cleaner look, adjust the color variation slider to simplify wild color palettes. They produce a highly diverse appearance and character. Lowering the coverage slider will create a more abstract look.Ĭrayon emulates the build-up of these iconic, wax-based or grease, pencils. These effects are strongly affected by the amount of coverage. Pencil Sketch emulates graphite or charcoal drawings. On the right side, the controls in the Background panel can be used to customize whichever preset you chose. They range from highly detailed looks that read almost like a photograph to abstract options with visible brush strokes. Oil Paint looks have a lot of variations. If you find something you like, you can open the corresponding folder for variations of that medium. It’s a great first step to creating the perfect look. At left there is a long list of preset categories covering both black and white and color effects, along with bokeh and alternative process presets. Once you’ve decided on a specific image to work on, simply double-click it and you can enable a large preview of it in the center of the workspace.
